Turning over rocks
It’s no secret how challenging the last few months have been. From deaths in the family to friends who are hurting to an economy that is relentlessly hammering at the front door of our business.
The good news is that there is good news. We just have to work a little harder to find it. And so, there are plenty of rocks to turn over along this journey. Most will reveal much of the same. But there are more than a few that will present some unexpected surprises.
Come outside with me and see. If we all work together, we’ll find more of them and we’ll find them faster.
Then, we can look back on today and realize the world isn’t coming down around us. We were just listening to those who don’t believe what’s really beneath those stones and paying them way too much credence.
The last couple of days
I’ve spent the last couple of days at The Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, FL. These have been two of the longest, toughest and most rewarding days related to my job in some time. It’s good working with people who care about the outcome and are willing to have the hard conversations needed to get where we need to go.
My flight back to Atlanta is at 6:43 p.m. and will be home by 9:00. In spite of the pace and intesity of the last 48 hours, I will most likely arrive refreshed and energetic.
If…
If I could draw a picture of my feelings, it would connect the stars in the heavens.
If I could sing a song to remind you, it would be a first for such a melody.
If I could put into words the depth you have impacted my heart, they would echo throughout the night.
If I could be next to you now, these pictures, melodies and words would just be.
22 years ago my life was changed forever
It was the easiest decision of my life when I asked Sandy to marry me. I never doubted myself, I never regretted it, I never looked back.
I do believe this may be the only decision I ever made I can say this about.
For this decision, and her answer, I am a better person – stronger, more creative, more tolerant and happy.
In fact, I am the happiest person I know thanks to her answer.
Thank you for saying “yes,” and changing my world forever, and for better, Sandy.
Snowy Georgia
It doesn’t snow much here so when it does, it’s loads of entertainment for everyone. Remember when you were a kid and the electricity went out? The family would run for the candles and flashlights and get out the monopoly board. Well, the same thing happens here when it snows except we all raid the stores for bread and milk and call out for pizza.
Hope there’s something good on TV tonight. Unless the electricity goes out in which case we can burn the bread for heat and make up a game using milk jugs.
